Robert Harrison, web designer, has partnered with Carbonfund.org to offset carbon emissions created by the web-server which hosts all of our websites. Partnering with organizations like CarbonFund is only one of the ways we can all take part in towards fighting global warming.
Explanation
Working together with Carbonfund.org, Robert Harrison Web Design offsets 35 tons of carbon per year. We believe this initiative will help us (and our customers) move even closer to our goal of achieving sustainable, eco-friendly living. We're proud to have joined the ranks of other small and large companies working towards a better future.
What are Carbon Offsets
The purchase of carbon offsets enable an individual or business to reduce their climate footprint by supporting projects that reduce carbon dioxide emissions to balance out one's own footprint on the planet. Each of us is responsible for carbon dioxide emissions through the use of energy such as; heating and cooling our homes/businesses, driving, browsing the Internet, or watching TV. Purchasing carbon offsets is the act of reducing an equal amount of carbon somewhere else on the planet to counterbalance the carbon emissions from your own energy-using activities.
We choose support all three of Carbonfund.org's projects:
- Renewable Energy: investing in clean energy development, such as wind and solar.
- Energy Efficiency: investing in projects that reduce existing energy use, much of which comes from oil, coal and natural gas.
- Reforestation: investing in reforestation projects that absorb existing CO2 emissions, helping to reduce the excess greenhouse gases that humans have added to the atmosphere.
